What we collect
We collect only the data needed to operate the site and understand, in aggregate, how readers navigate the survey. This includes: IP address (truncated for analytics), browser and device type, pages visited, referring URL, and cookie-consent state. We do not require account registration to read the site.
Lawful basis
Essential cookies and request logging are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Optional analytics cookies are placed only with your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a) and PECR Regulation 6), gathered through the cookie banner.
How long we keep it
Aggregated analytics records are retained for up to 26 months. Server logs are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse-prevention purposes, then deleted. Cookie-consent preferences live in your browser for up to 12 months.
Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share limited technical data with our hosting provider and, where you have consented, with our analytics provider, in each case under a written data-processing agreement. Outbound links to operator sites are commercial; once you click an outbound link, the destination operator processes your data under its own privacy notice.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise any right, write to [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
International transfers
Where our processors are located outside the United Kingdom, transfers are protected by UK Government adequacy regulations or by the International Data Transfer Agreement.
